In conjunction
with Paved Art + New Media's DIGIDOME festival, Esther B. and Marinko Jareb
were invited to present research about artworks incorporating vinyl records.
Carrie Gates led a workshop for registered participants after a lecture
by Esther and a demonstration of experimental DJ techniques by Marinko.
Saskatoon local, Jeff Morton, also shared his work with homemade amplified
needles for vinyl. |

| |
The participants
of the workshop enjoyed a generous assortment of DJ equipment, records,
and sculptural supplies with which they created their own works of art.
Each participant interpreted this challenge in their own way, each producing
very different sounds, sights, and textures. |

Parts of the
lecture and workshop were recorded to video and minidisc. Please check back
to listen and see these archives soon! |
| |
| The
wide spectrum of artists, backgrounds, materials, and knowledges allowed
a valuable exchange of information that strengthened a local community of
audio and sculptural artists. This event also led to the ongoing cross-Canada
collaboration between Esther B., Marinko Jareb, and Carrie Gates. |
